Benefit Consulting Group Becomes Newest Member for Benefit Advisors Network

CLEVELAND, OH (6/2013) --- Syracuse, NY-based Benefit Consulting Group (BCG) has become the newest member of Benefit Advisors Network, a national network of progressive and visionary employee benefit brokers and consulting firms from across the United States.

In addition to its corporate offices in Syracuse, Benefit Consulting Group operates through offices across New York State including Buffalo, Cazenovia, Chittenango, Long Island, New Hartford, Oneida, Rome and Schenectady, as well as in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The company was founded in 1983 as Retirement Income Services, later changing its name to Benefit Consulting Group as it expanded its services to include employee benefits and human resources consulting.

In 2006, the firm was acquired by Oneida Savings Bank and joined the Oneida Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: ONFC) family of companies. Collectively, Oneida Financial companies offer one of the largest portfolios of business and financial services for companies and individuals.

“We are very excited about joining Benefit Advisors Network,” said John Catanzarita, Chief Operating Office at Benefit Consulting Group. “Integrating our expertise with a terrific network of leading experts in benefits, health care and related services on a national scale will provide us a competitive advantage. More importantly, our clients will benefit greatly from the expanded resources.”

With the next phase of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) right around the corner, many in the employee benefits industry see uncertainty in the future. Through a progressive, head-on approach, BAN is seeking to mitigate the uncertainty by serving as a collaborative resource, providing needed products and services for members to continue to stay relevant in an ever-changing marketplace.

“As an organization, BAN seeks to add to members’ internal resources to help successfully navigate the complexities of the market - therefore adding value to their clients,” said BAN Executive Director Perry Braun.  Continues Braun, “On the flip side, we are not just looking for any firm, but one that has a philosophical fit with the progressive and forward thinking nature of our organization and members. In order to become a member, we really put an organization through its paces to make sure they are in fact the best firm in their geographic location with respect to ethics, knowledge, and commitment to the industry and their clients.”
